Course Description:

Executive Director of CAMFT, Nabil El-Ghoroury, will present an update on the current stature of the state and federal legislation affects LMFTs. He will also address the regulatory issues from the BBS and update attendees about CAMFT initiatives.

Learning Objectives:

1. Attendees will learn about pending legislation and how marriage and family therapists may be impacted by bills.

2. Attendees will gain insight into CAMFT’s strategic priorities.

Instructor: Nabil El-Ghoroury, PhD, CAE

Nabil El-Ghoroury began as Executive Director of CAMFT in January 2018. He completed his doctorate in clinical psychology from Binghamton University, and practiced for 7 years at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland as a licensed psychologist. Prior to coming to CAMFT, he was an Associate Executive Director for the American Psychological Association, where he served as the director of the graduate student office. Nabil was recognized as an emerging association leader by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) when he was invited into the Diversity Executive Leadership Program (2016-2018 class). He has presented at numerous conferences (in English and in Spanish) on issues such as student development in psychology, professional and legal issues in the use of social media, and health/educational disparities in autism spectrum disorders. Nabil led student delegations on Capitol Hill for 8 years. He recently earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential, a certification that demonstrates wide knowledge of association management skills.

Target Audience: This presentation is geared towards AMFTs and LMFTs.

Course Completion certificates will be awarded electronically in exchange for a completed evaluation form. Please make sure Program Administrator has your correct email. Course meets the qualifications for 1 hour of continuing education credit for LMFT’s, LCSW’s, LPCC’s and LEP’s as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

This course is provided by the San Diego Chapter of the California association of marriage and family therapists (Provider #57330) is approved by the California association of marriage and family therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and LEPs.
